This resource provides a year long reading comprehension curriculum that focuses on teaching phonics concepts while increasing wh- question answering skills and sights word fluency. The curriculum is structured, visually based, breaks down larger skills into manageable steps, embeds assessments, and utilizes data based decision making.

Level 2 focuses on expanding on basic skills. The skills included in this unit are:

  • text levels A - F or BR70L - 300L
  • answering who, what, where, when, why, and how questions
  • sight words - Fry Noun List and Fry first 100 words
  • identify and match beginning and ending sounds
  • sound out and spell CVC and CVCe words
  • p, b, d reversals
  • word families
  • r controlled vowel words
  • vowel pairs
  • diphthongs
  • make text to self connections
  • identify character, setting, problem, and solution about a text
  • retell a story
